마슈루는 옛 리프트 밸리케냐 카지아도 군사단이다.[1][2][3][4]마사이족이 거주하고 있다.[2][5][6]이 지역에서 가장 인구가 많은 정착지는 마슈루라고도 불리지만, 종종 "마슈루 마을"이라고 불리는데, 이는 케냐의 다른 많은 구와 군들이 가장 인구가 많은 마을의 이름을 따서 지었거나 그 반대의 이름을 붙인 것과 유사하다.[7]
