레만 불연속성
Lehmann discontinuity레만 불연속성은 지진학자 잉게 레만(Inge Lehmann)이 발견한 220km(140mi) 깊이에서 P파 및 S파 속도가 갑자기 증가한 것이다.[2][3][4] 두께는 220km이다[citation needed]. 그것은 대륙 아래에 나타나지만, 대게 바다 밑은 아니며,[5] 전세계 평균 연구에서는 쉽게 나타나지 않는다. 유연성이 있는 아스테르노스피어에 대한 하한, 위상 전이,[6] 그리고 가장 그럴듯하게 전단파 음이소트로피의 깊이 변화 등 여러 가지 설명이 제안되었다.[7] 레만 불연속성에 대한 추가 논의는 카라토 슌이치로의 '지구 재료의 변형'이라는 책에서 찾을 수 있다.[8]

The first possible explanation is that the Lehmann is not a global feature...the Lehmann is more prevalent under continents and may be absent under all or most of the oceans.
