켄 훌(Ken Hoole, 1916년–1988년)은 영국 북동부의 철도에 관한 연구로 유명한 영국 역사학자였다.

달링턴 철도 센터와 박물관의 켄 훌 스터디 센터와 켄 훌 트러스트는 그의 이름을 따서 지어졌다.

전기

켄 훌은 1916년 돈캐스터에서 태어났다.철도의 관심은 요크셔주 브리들링턴에 있는 그의 집에서 킹스턴 어폰 헐에 있는 학교로 가는 기차로 매일의 여행에 의해 모아졌다.[1][2]그는 제2차 세계 대전 동안 무선 보안 분야에서 일했다.민간인 생활에서 그의 관심은 그가 철도 역사에 관한 전업 작가가 되어 결국 40권이 넘는 책을 저술하게 만들었다.[3]

그는 NERA([1]북동 철도 협회)와 스카버러 철도 협회의 창립자였다.[4]후에, 훌은 노스요크셔의 스카버러에 살았다.그는 1988년 12월 27일에 사망했다.[5]

켄 훌은 40권이 넘는 책과 수많은 잡지 기사를 출판했다.[6]

스터디 센터인 The Ken Hoole Study Centre는 1992년 달링턴에 있는 Darlington Trail Centre and Museum(현재의 스팀 박물관장)에 문을 열었으며, NERA의 도서관을 비롯하여 켄 Hoole의 기록 보관소에서 가져온 유물의 핵심 컬렉션을 계승하고 있다.[6][7]그의 기억 속에 자리 잡은 켄 훌 신탁은 철도 역사와 유산과 관련된 프로젝트에 자금을 대는 데 도움을 준다.[8]

그는 자신의 작품 외에도 윌리엄 위버 톰린슨의 북동부 철도, G.G. 맥터크의 헐 철도의 역사, 조지 데이비드 파커의 헐과 반즐리 철도를 포함한 몇몇 역사적인 작품에 대한 전언, 수정, 업데이트도 썼다.그는 또한 헐과 반즐리 철도 (1972년) 2권의 1권을 편집했다.
