HD 38282(R144, BAT99-118, Brey 89)는 타란툴라 성운(대마젤란 구름)에 있는 거대한 분광형 이항성으로 수소가 풍부한 울프 레이트 별 2개로 구성된다.
R144는 NGC 2070의 중심에 있는 R136 클러스터 근처에 위치해 있으며, 또 다른 대규모 이진을 만난 후 이 클러스터로부터 배출되었을 수 있다.[7] R146(HD 269926) 및 R147(HD 38344) Wolf-Rayet 항성 시스템과 공통 X선 공동체를 공유한다.[8]
R144의 두 성분은 모두 스펙트럼에서 검출되며 두 성분은 WNh 항성으로 강한 항성 바람에 의해 방출선이 강한 매우 뜨거운 별이다. 궤도는 결정되지 않았지만, 2개월에서 6개월 사이일 가능성이 높으며, 이심일 경우 더 길어질 가능성이 있다. 약간 더 뜨거운, 1차적인 스타는 둘 중 덜 거대한 것으로 관측된다.[3]
