Fast Grants

Fast Grants는 과학 연구를 위한 기금을 제공하는 미국의 자선단체다.[1] 이 프로젝트는 COVID-19 전염병에 대응하여, 전염병에 도움이 될 수 있는 연구 프로젝트에 종사하는 과학자들에게 빠른 자금 지원을 제공하기 위해 만들어졌다.[2]

역사

이 프로젝트는 2020년 4월 타일러 코웬 조지메이슨대 경제학과 교수, 온라인 결제 플랫폼 스트라이프 공동창업자 패트릭 콜리슨, 캘리포니아대 바이오엔지니어 패트릭 슈가 착수했다.[3]

지원

The project is supported by donations from Arnold Ventures, The Audacious Project, The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, John Collison, Patrick Collison, Crankstart, Jack Dorsey, Kim and Scott Farquhar, Paul Graham, Reid Hoffman, Fiona McKean and Tobias Lütke, Yuri and Julia Milner, Elon Musk, Chris and Crystal Sacca, Schmidt Futures, and others.[4][5]

보조금

Fast Grants는 1만 달러에서 50만 달러 사이의 자금을 제공한다. 이 자선단체는 그들이 이틀 안에 신청에 응하고 미국 밖의 연구자들에게도 자금을 지원할 것이라고 말한다.[2]

2021년 4월 현재, Fast Grants는 시험, 임상 작업, 감시, 바이러스학, 약물 개발 및 시험, PPE 등 COVID-19 관련 프로젝트에 종사하는 연구원들에게 총 250만 달러의 보조금을 지급했다.[1][6] 패스트 그랜트는 2020시즌 동안 올랜도의 NBA "버블"에서 사용되는 침 테스트인 TacleDirect에 초기 자금을 제공했다.[7]

2022년 1월 현재 신규 패스트 그랜트 신청은 추가 자금 부족으로 중단됐다.[8]
