Esther Zweig

에스더 소머슈타인 즈베이그(Esther Sommerstein Zweig, 1906년 7월 29일 ~ 1981년 8월 3일)는 미국의 작곡가, 작가, 번역가, 교사였다.그녀는 뉴욕에서 태어나 헌터 칼리지, 뉴욕 대학교, 빈 대학교, 유대 신학교에서 공부했다.그녀의 강사진에는 작곡가 월터 댐로쉬와 커트 윌이 참여했다.그녀는 1927년부터 1937년까지 뉴욕의 히브리 학교에서 합창 음악을 가르쳤다.[1]즈베이그는 이디시시인 시인 알리자 그린블라트의 시를 음악에 맞춰 세웠고 다른 작가들의 작품을 영어, 히브리어, 이디시어로 번역했다.[2]그녀는 1930년 6월 29일 제이콥 즈베이그와 결혼했다.[3]1949년부터 1950년까지 그녀는 뉴욕의 에스더 즈바이그 앙상블을 지휘했다.즈베이그는 1927년 유대신학교에서 상을 받았고 빈 대학교에서 공로증을 받았다.오늘날 유대신학교는 특이한 지적 능력과 성장 가능성을 보여준 학생에게 매년 에스더 소머슈타인 즈베이그 교육상을 수여하고 있다.[4]
