에피파니 용어

Epiphany term

에피파니 용어(Epiphany term)는 더럼 대학교에서 두 번째 학기로, 1월에 열린 '에피파니의 기독교 축제'에서와 같이 마이클마스 용어(Michaelmas term)와 부활절 용어(Easter term) 사이에 속한다.[1]이 용어는 1월부터 3월까지 계속되며,[2] 많은 영국 대학의 봄 학기, 더블린과 옥스포드의 힐러리 용어, 캠브리지, 캔터베리 크라이스트 처치, 랭커스터, 리버풀, LSE, 스완지에서의 사순절 기간에 해당한다.

역사적으로 이 명칭은 1833년 개교 이래 더럼에서 사용되었으며,[3] 2004년까지 뉴캐슬 대학교(옛 더럼 대학교의 킹스 칼리지)에서도 사용되었다.[4]더럼의 해외 부속 대학에서도 사용되었다.Codrington College, Barbados,[5] Pourah Bay College, Sierra Leone,[6] 2018년 7월 현재) 시에라리온 로스쿨에서 사용하고 있다.[7]

미국에서는 19세기 말 뉴욕주 호바트 칼리지와 PA주 개신교 성공회 신학교에서,[8][9] 1913년 이후 세와니: 남방대학에서 한동안 이 명칭이 사용되었다.[10][11]그 명칭은 뉴욕 종합신학대학에서 계속 사용되고 있다("봄 용어"와 상호 교환).[12]
