엔터프라이즈 파일 동기화 및 공유(EFSS 및 엔터프라이즈 파일 동기화 및 공유라고도 함)는 조직에서 여러 기기에서 문서, 사진, 비디오 및 파일을 직원 및 외부 고객 및 파트너와 안전하게 동기화하고 공유할 수 있도록 하는 소프트웨어 서비스를 말한다.조직은 직원들이 IT 부서의 통제와 가시성 밖에 있는 기업 데이터를 저장, 액세스 및 관리하는 소비자 기반 파일 공유 앱을 사용하는 것을 방지하기 위해 이러한 기술을 채택하는 경우가 많다.[1][2]

주요 특성

EFSS 애플리케이션은 대개 다음과 같은 특징과 기능을 대부분 또는 모두 갖추고 있다.[3][4][5][6]

  • 회사 스토리지에 저장된 파일을 사용자 데스크톱 및 장치와 동기화
  • 여러 파일 확장자 및 프로토콜을 지원하는 대용량 파일에 대한 링크 전송
  • API, 플러그인 및 모바일 앱을 통해 기존 비즈니스 애플리케이션에 통합
  • 기본 제공 파일 생성, 편집 및 미리 보기
  • 파일 및 폴더에 대한 사용자 액세스 권한
  • 암호화, 안티바이러스 검사 및 DLP(데이터 유실 방지)를 통해 저장 및 전송되는 파일 보호
  • 데이터에 액세스하기 위한 로그인 요구 사항을 설정하는 기능이 있는 파일에 대한 링크 게시
  • Active Directory, SAML, Azure Active Directory 등에 대한 인증 옵션.

EFSS 프로바이더가 제공하는 기능에 따라 클라우드 컴퓨팅, 사내 또는 하이브리드를 사용하여 서비스를 구현할 수 있다.Forrester Research에 따르면, 일부 EFSS 제공업체는 특정 국가에서 컨텐츠/메타데이터를 저장해야 하는 요구사항을 가진 기업을 위해 특정 지역의 데이터를 잠금 해제할 수 있는 기능을 제공할 수 있다.[8]

역사

최초의 EFSS 제품 중 하나인 Box는 원래 2004년 Southern California University의 학생이었을 때 Aaron Levie의 대학 프로젝트로 개발되었다.레비는 2005년 회사를 풀타임으로 운영하기 위해 학교를 떠났다.[9]

2007년에 Dropbox가 설립되었고, 2008년 TechCrunch Discret 컨퍼런스에서 공식 출범했다.같은 해 마이크로소프트는 OneDrive의 전신인 Windows Live Folders의 베타 테스트를 시작했다.[10]

2010년경, EFSS 시장은 백업 및 클라우드 스토리지(Citrix ShareFile, Syncplicity), 관리형 파일 전송(Acceelion, Biscom, Box, Hightail, Thru), 엔터프라이즈 콘텐츠 관리 등 다양한 기술 배경을 가진 100개 이상의 벤더로 성장했다.기업 정보를 보호하기 위한 보안 기능이나 기존 콘텐츠 저장소 및 비즈니스 애플리케이션과의 통합의 유연성을 갖추지 못한 소비자 파일 동기화 및 공유 서비스의 대안으로 개발된 것이 많다.[11][12][13][14]

2011년 10월 소프트웨어 회사인 Citrix Systems는 Citrix 제품군에 추가할 프라이빗 엔터프라이즈 파일 동기화 및 공유 서비스 ShareFile을 인수했다고 발표했다.ShareFile은 Box와 Dropbox의 경쟁사였지만 대형 조직의 IT 부서에 제품을 판매하는 데 주력했다.[15][16]

2012년, CTERA Networks는 EFSS 시장에 진출했다.[17]

2013년 7월 Forrester Research는 EFSS 시장에 대한 첫 번째 "Forrester Wave" 보고서를 발표하여 가장 중요한 공급업체의 제품을 식별하고 점수를 매겼다.[18][19][20]

2014년 6월 25일, 구글은 I/O 컨퍼런스에서 「Google Drive for Work」의 발매와 함께 기업 파일 공유 시장에 진출한다고 발표했다.[21][22]

2014년 7월 Gartner Research는 EFSS 시장에 대한 첫 번째 "매직 쿼드런트" 보고서를 발표했다.이 연구는 업계에서 가장 주목할 만한 공급업체의 강점과 주의사항을 평가한다.[23][24]

2014년 10월, 암호화된 벤더 트레스오릿이 Tresorit for Business와 함께 EFSS 시장에 진출했다.[25][26]Tresorit은 Dropbox와 Box의 경쟁업체로서 엔드 투 엔드 암호화를 통한 보안 및 개인 정보 보호 규정 준수를 약속하고 있다.[27][28]

2015년 4월, BlackBerry Limited는 WatchDox Ltd.를 인수하기 위해 1억~1억5000만 달러를 지불했다.엔터프라이즈 파일 동기화 및 공유 기능.[29]

2015년 7월, EFSS 공급업체인 Syncplicity가 이전 소유주인 EMC Corporation에 의해 사모펀드 회사인 Skyview Capital에 매각되었다.[30][31]
