도날드 피서는 미국의 학술 및 문학 비평가다. 그는 툴레인 대학의 영어 명예교수 피어스 버틀러 교수로,[1] 자연주의에 관한 몇 권의 저자다.[2] 1962년 구겐하임 펠로우십을 수상하였다.[3]
피서는 조지아 대학교 제임스 나겔 교수에게 "잭 런던, 햄린 갈랜드, 테오도르 드레저, 프랭크 노리스, 존 도스 파소스, 1890년대, 20세기 소설에 대한 점수 이상의 책으로 1890년부터 제2차 세계대전까지 자연주의 연구에 엄청난 공헌을 했다"[4]고 말했다.
