클로로스포싱구스는 전통적으로 타나거과(Thraupidae)에 서식하는 새인 타나거새의 속이다.더 최근의 연구들은 그들이 파스렐레아과의 아르레모놉스속과 밀접하게 관련되어 있다고 시사한다.2017년 7월 현재 미국 조류학회는 신대륙 참새가 서식하는 파스렐라과에 속주를 할당하고 있다.[1]
