블라토이데아는 블라토데아 순서로 바퀴벌레와 흰개미의 슈퍼패밀리다. 블라토이데아에는 약 17가족과 4,100종 이상의 묘사된 종들이 있다.[1][2]
흰개미의 12식구는 때때로 하위 순서인 이솝테라의 일원으로 여겨지지만, 최근의 계통생성학적 분석은 그들을 바퀴벌레 슈퍼패밀리 블라토이데아에 배치한다. 블라토이데아 내에서는 흰개미들이 경구개미 아래 그룹화된다.[3][4]
카본리퍼스 시대의 거대한 석탄 퇴적물은 부분적으로 후기 카본리퍼스 때까지 화석 기록에 나타나지 않는 블라토이드와 같은 나무를 많이 소비하는 곤충이 부족했기 때문이다.[5][6]
