Arthur Francis Leach

아서 프란시스 리치(Arthur Francis Leach, 1851년 3월 16일 ~ 1915년 9월 28일)는 영국의 역사학자로서 영국의 교육 발전에 관한 책을 다수 저술하였다. 그는 "영국 교육사의 아버지"[1]로 불렸다.

인생

Leach는 1851년에 변호사인 Thomas Leach의 아들로 태어났다.[2] 1862년부터 하이게이트 스쿨에서 교육을 받은 뒤 윈체스터 칼리지에서 장학금을 받아 옥스퍼드 주 뉴 칼리지에서 수석을 받았다.[3][4] 1872년 스탠호프 에세이상을 수상하였으며, 1874년부터 1881년까지 옥스퍼드 올 소울스 칼리지의 펠로우였다.[2] 그는 법학을 공부했고, 1876년 미들사원의 법정 변호사가 되었다.[5] 1884년, Leach는 보조 자선 위원이 되었다.
