아파치 디렉토리는 아파치 소프트웨어 재단의 오픈 소스 프로젝트다.아파치 디렉터리 서버는 원래 알렉스 카라술루(Alex Karasulu)가 쓴 것으로, 완전히 자바(Java)로 작성된 내장형 디렉터리 서버다.2006년 The Open Group에 의해 LDAPv3 호환성을 인증받았다.[2][3]LDAP 외에도 서버는 다른 프로토콜과 Kerberos 서버도 지원한다.[4]

다음과 같은 하위 프로젝트가 있다.

  • Apache Directory Studio - Eclipse 기반 프레임워크로 작성된 데이터, 스키마, LDIF 및 DSML용 LDAP 브라우저/편집기.
  • Apache eSCIMo - SCM 프로토콜의 자바 기반 구현.
  • 아파치 요새는 표준 기반의 허가 시스템이다.
  • Apache Kerby - Java로 작성된 Kerberos 구현.
  • Apache LDAP API - Java에서 디렉토리 액세스를 위한 SDK이다.
  • Apache Mavibot - Java 응용 프로그램용 데이터베이스 응용 프로그램이다.
