Syracuse (satellite)

시라쿠스(프랑스어: Systéme de radiocommunication utisant un satellite, 위성 기반 radiocommunication system)는 프랑스의 군사 통신 위성 시리즈다.

시라쿠스는 프랑스군이 프랑스 본토와 전 세계에 배치된 군부대를 오가며 소통할 수 있도록 하기 위한 것이다. 위성은 운용의 명령, 재할당 및 물류 측면에 참여한다. 이 시스템은 명목상 프랑스 해군의 지휘 하에 총 54척(2009년)의 선박을 보유하고 있으며, 통신의 텔코마르사트 상업 시스템으로 보완되고 있다.

시러큐스 1대 3

시라큐스 1호와 2호는 프랑스 PTT가 개발하고 운용하는 민군 합동 위성 설계에 탑재된 하역물이었으며, 민간 이름인 테레콤 1호와 테레콤 2호(1984년, 1985년, 1988년 위성 3기),[1] 테레콤 2호(1991년, 1992년, 1995년, 1996년 위성 4기)로 더 많이 알려져 있었다.[2] 마트라 마르코니 스페이스는 개발 도급업자로 영국 스카이넷 4 군사 통신 위성에 근무하기도 했다.[3][4]

2006년에 이 프로그램은 시러큐스-2를 대체하는 3단계 시러큐스-3를 기다리고 있었다. 시라큐스-3는 방향제네랄 데 랑분할(DGA)이 개발한 2개의 위성과 이탈리아와 함께 개발한 3번째 위성(시크랄-2)으로 구성돼 있다. 프랑스군이 위성통신 측면에서 자율성을 확보하려는 시도다.

시라큐스 4

2018년 프랑스 국방부는 시러큐스-4 위성 3기의 개발을 발표했다.[5] 두 개의 위성 시러큐스 4A와 4B가 명령되었다. 그것들은 2030년쯤 제3의 인공위성에 의해 보완될지도 모른다. 잉여용량은 유럽 등지의 무장 및 보안군에 판매된다.[6] 에어버스 디펜스 앤 스페이스는 위성 지상국을 공급하고 운영할 것이다.[7]

2019년 7월 차세대 시러큐스 위성 시러큐스-4에 공격 가능성을 확인할 수 있는 카메라가 장착될 것이라고 발표했다. 다음 세대(시러큐스-5)의 위성에는 방어무기가 탑재된다.[8] 플로렌스 팔리(Florens Parly) 국방부 장관이 2019년 9월 3일 공군 내에 우주사령부(Command de l'espace - CDE)를 창설하는 법령을 공식 서명했는데, 이 법령은 결국 '항공우주군'[9]이 되어야 한다.

이 가족의 첫 위성인 시라큐스 4A는 2021년 10월 24일 기아나 우주센터에서 아리안 5 ECA 로켓으로 발사됐다. 탈레스 알레니아 스페이스가 제작했으며 발사 중량이 3,853kg(8,494lb)이며 플라즈마 추진 엔진을 사용한다.[10][11]
