모가마드 나치르 폴센은 서부 케이프 소재 경제 자유 투사(EFF) 소속 국회의원이다. 그는 이전에 웨스턴 케이프 지방 의회 의원을 지냈다.[1]

어린 시절과 경력

Nazier Paulsen과 그의 가족은 이전에 반인종차별 운동의 일부였다. Paulsen은 통합민주전선의 일원이었다.[2] 그는 케이프타운 대학에서 BCom 명예학위와 분산 시스템 대학원 졸업장을 취득했다. 그는 이전에 케이프 반도 공대의 정보 기술 강사였다. 폴센은 미첼스 평민공동체개발공사(Mitchells Plain Community Development Corporation) 의장과 남아프리카진보시민기구(SAPCO) 의장을 역임하기도 했다.[3]

사건

폴센이 웨스턴 케이프 지방 의회 의원으로 취임했을 때, 그는 노트북을 할당받았다. 그는 2015년 5월 도의회 의원직을 사퇴하고 당초 노트북 반환을 거부했다.[8] 도의회가 경찰에 접근했고, 그는 절도죄로 기소되었다.[9] 혐의는 2019년 7월 철회됐다.[10]

On 6 November 2018, Paulsen was involved in a fracas with Agang MP, Andries Tlouamma.[11] In response, President Cyril Ramaphosa called on MPs to embrace non-racialism when interacting with one another.[12] The footage of the occurrence was referred to Parliament's Disciplinary Committee.[13]

On 15 August 2019, Paulsen appeared in court due to his alleged assault of a man that was parked outside his ex-wife's house in early-August. His next court appearance was in September.[14][15]

On 19 November 2019, Paulsen was asked to leave the National Assembly following his refusal to retract his statement that Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan appoints SOE staff based on their race.[16]

During a sitting of the National Assembly in March 2021, Paulsen told DA MP Phumzile van Damme to go back to Eswatini and the DA chief whip in the National Assembly, Natasha Mazzone, to go back to Italy. Deputy speaker Lechesa Tsenoli then ordered Paulsen to leave the House amid the tension. As Paulsen was leaving, the DA's Van Damme waved at him and Tsenoli told her not to be provocative. Van Damme then said that Paulsen allegedly threatened to "beat her up" and got into an argument with EFF MPs. She was then ordered to leave and was accompanied by two male DA MPs, Kevin Mileham and Chris Hunsinger. Paulsen denied threatening her.[17][18] On 28 July 2021, the National Assembly's Power and Privileges Committee decided that it would investigate the matter and that Paulsen would face disciplinary hearings for his actions. It is alleged that he also threatened to assault two other DA MPs at the sitting back in March. [19][20]
