무역 박람회 및 전시 센터로도 알려진 무역 박람회장은 몰타 낙사르에 있는 예전 박람회장이다. 연중 다양한 전시회와 박람회를 개최했지만, 대부분 매년 열리는 몰타 무역 박람회의 개최지로 알려져 있었다.[1] 무역 박람회 단지가 건설되기 전에는 이 지역은 파리시오 팔라초 정원의 일부였다.[2]

역사

박람회장은 1958년부터 2006년까지 49편의 몰타 무역 박람회를 개최했다.[3] 그라운드 임대기간이 만료된 몰타 무역박람회는 2007년 타 콸리의 몰타 페어 앤드 컨벤션 센터로 옮겨졌고, 이후 줄곧 그곳에서 개최되고 있다.[4] 이 시점에서, 낙사르의 옛 박람회장을 주택 사업, 지역 센터, 지하 주차장 등으로 재개발하는 계획이 세워졌다.[5] 2010년 무역공정전시회(Trade Fair Exhibitioners Association)가 리스를 인수해 다시 낙사르 단지에서 무역박람회 개최를 신청했으나 인허가 거부돼 법정 다툼이 빚어졌다.[3] 낙사르 지방 의회는 무역 박람회를 이전 박람회장으로 되돌리려는 어떠한 시도에도 반대했다.[6]

2008년 선거관리위원회는 미국 대사관의 자리를 마련하기 위해 타 칼리의 원래 개표소가 철거된 후 개표단지를 이전 무역 박람회장으로 이전했다.[7] 이 개표소는 2011년 이혼 국민투표를 제외하고 2008~2017년 대부분의 선거에 이용됐다.[8][9]

2017년 새 부지 재개발계획이 제출됐으며 기존 건물 철거와 아파트 490가구, 사무실 5000m2(5만4000m²), 소매점 3000m2(3만2000m²), 지하주차장 등이 포함됐다.[10]
