레피도프테르증은 자극적인 애벌레나 나방털이 피부나 점막과 접촉하면서 생기는 자극성 접촉성 피부염이다.[1][2] 원인을 언급할 때 흔히 나방피부염과 애벌레피부염이 사용되는데, 카리피토 가려움(프랑스어로 파필로나이트로 알려져 있음)[3][4]은 일부 힐레시아 종에 의해 생기는 나방피부염을 가리키는 오래된 이름이다.[5]
