포트 포탈(Fort Portal) 또는 카바롤(Kabarolle)은 우간다의 서부 지역에 위치한 "관광 도시"이다. 카바롤레 구와 토로 왕국 양쪽에 자리하고 있다.[2][3]

위치

포트 포탈은 우간다의 수도이자 가장 큰 도시인 캄팔라 서쪽, 도로로 약 296km(184mi)에 위치하고 있으며, 전타맥 2차선 고속도로에 위치해 있다.[4] 포트 포탈의 좌표는 0°39''16.0"N, 30°16'28.0"E이다(위도:0.65444; 경도:30.274444).[5] 포트 포탈은 해발 1,523미터(4,997피트)의 평균 고도에 위치해 있다.[6]

도시 상태

2020년 7월 1일, 포트 포탈은 시에서 관광 도시 지위로 승격되었다.[7]

인구

2002년 전국 인구 조사에 따르면, 포트 포탈의 인구는 약 4만 1천 명이었다. 2010년 우간다 통계국(UBOS)은 인구가 4만6300명으로 추정했다. 2011년 UBOS는 인구를 47,100명으로 추정했다.[8] 2014년 8월, 전국 인구조사에서 인구는 54,275명이다.[1]

헬스케어

포트 포탈에는 세 개의 병원이 있다. 우간다 보건부가 관리하는 300병상 규모의 공공병원인 포트포털 지역 소개병원이 가장 크다.[9] 다음으로 규모가 큰 곳은 로마 가톨릭 포트포털 교구가 소유한 155병원의 병상 수용능력을 갖춘 개인병원인 홀리 패밀리 비리카 병원이다.[10] 병원 중 가장 규모가 작은 곳은 우간다교회가 관리하는 커뮤니티 병원인 100병상 규모의 카바롤 선교병원으로 원래 교회선교협회 존 에드워드교회가 설립했다.[11]

교육

그 마을에는 3개의 고등교육기관이 있다. 사립대인 문대 산맥의 주캠퍼스가 도심에 위치해 있다.[12] 도시 내에도 오순절운동에 소속된 사립대학인 우간다 오순절대학의 주 캠퍼스가 있다.[13][14] 예비 가톨릭 사제들을 위한 가톨릭 중등학교인 성 마리아 소학교도 포트 포탈에 위치해 있다.[15] 2018년 시내에 핀스 메디컬 대학교라는 새로운 대학이 설립되었다.[16]
