에베네저(Eben) 헤이스(Hayes, 1798년 - 1881년)는 재건 시대 농부, 감리교 설교자, 사우스캐롤라이나 하원 의원이었다.[1]
에베네저 헤이스는 1798년 사우스캐롤라이나의 마리온에서 윌리엄 헤이스의 세 아들 중 장남으로 태어났으며, 그의 가족은 버지니아에서 왔고 영국계였다.[2]헤이스는 낸시 앤 듀(1806년 - 1870년)와 결혼했고, 동생 헨리는 낸시의 여동생 마리나와 결혼했다.에베네저와 낸시는 1826년에서 1854년 사이에 태어난 9명의 자녀를 두었다.[3]
헤이스는 재건시대 사우스캐롤라이나의 하원의 사우스캐롤라이나 마리온 카운티를 대표했다.그는 1868년부터 1870년까지, 1872년부터 1874년까지 두 번 선출되었다.[4][5]그는 타협 없이 즉각적이고 완전하며 영구적인 노예제 근절을 목표로 하는 당파인 급진 공화당의 일원이었다.[6]
