디포이드 언어는 베누에-콩고어 계열의 제안된 분파다.이 집단의 이름은 회원 언어를 사용하는 거의 모든 민족이 일레 이페 시를 그들의 출신지로 언급하고 있다는 사실에서 유래되었다: "Defid"는 엣데('언어') + 이페(Ife) + oid에서 유래되었다.카포(1989년)에 의해 처음 제안되었으나, [2]귈데만(2018년)에 의해 여전히 증거 불충분으로 간주되고 있다.[3]
디포이드어군은 요루보이드, 아코코, 아예레아한 등 3개 분파로 구성되어 있다.

Capo’s (1989a) claim about a larger Defoid family including [Yoruboid,] Owon-Arigidi and Ayere-Ahan remains doubtful because of the insufficient empirical support provided for this hypothesis (p. 168).
