데이비드 찰스 구딩(David Charles Gooding, 1947년 11월 21일 ~ 2009년 12월 13일)은 영국 배스 대학교의 역사철학 교수, 과학연구센터 소장을 역임했으며,[1] BAAS(2002~2003년)의 역사학부 총장을 역임했다.

경력

구딩은 30년 넘게 과학에서 시각화, 추론, 의사소통, 창의성, 인적 기관의 역할에 대해 글을 쓰고 강의를 했으며 마이클 패러데이의 삶과 일에 대한 전문가였다. 2002-2003년에 그는 과학의 시각화에 대한 연구를 위한 레버훌메 연구 펠로우십을 개최했다. 1991년부터 1993년까지 그는 MRC-ESRC-SERC(HCI-인지과학 공동연구협의회 이니셔티브)에서 자연지능 시뮬레이션 연구를 위한 연구 휴가 펠로우십을 개최했다.[2]

구딩의 작품은 철학, 역사, 사회학, 예술, 인지심리학 등 다양한 분야의 관점과 방법을 결합한 다학제 접근방식으로 특징지어진다. 구딩의 Construal에 대한 개념은 컴퓨터 과학 내의 경험적 모델링 분야에서 중요한 것이다.[3]
