돈 에드윈 웨라싱헤 구나세케라(Don Edwin Wearasinghe Gunasekera, 1935년 3월 4일 출생)는 스리랑카의 정치인, 전 국회의원, 전 내각 장관이다. 그는 현재 유엔 인민자유연합(UPFA) 소속인 스리랑카 공산당(CPSL)의 당수다.[1]

초년기

구나세케라는 1935년 3월 4일 남부 실론의 키불라에서 태어났다.[2][3] 그는 마타라의 라훌라 대학에서 교육을 받았다.[4][5] 방과 후 그는 1950년대에 비달랑카라 대학에 입학하여 경제학 학위를 받고 졸업했다.[3]

구나세케라는 1970년대 초 실론 법대에 입학했으나 부정행위를 시도하다 퇴학당했다.[6]

경력

비디얄랑카라 구나세케라 이후 수년 동안 내륙국 세입부에서 일했다.[3]

구나세케라는 1958년 실론 공산당에 입당하였다.[3] 당 신문 《마우비마》에 기고하였으며, 청년 지도자였다.[3] 이후 당 중앙위원이 되었고, 결국 당 총비서가 되었다.[3]

1988년 CPSL, Lank Sama Samaja Party(LSSP), Nava Sama Samaja Party, 스리랑카 인민당은 통합사회주의동맹(미국)을 결성하였다.[7] 구나세케라는 1989년 의회 선거에서 마타라 지구에서 미국의 후보 중 한 명이었으나, 미국은 그 지역의 의석을 얻는 데 실패했다.[8][9] 2004년 1월 20일 스리랑카 자유당(SLFP)과 자나타 비무크티 페라무나(JVP)는 유엔 인민자유동맹(UPFA)을 결성했다.[10] CPSL과 LSSP는 2004년 2월에 UPFA에 가입했다.[11][12] 구나세케라는 2004년 국회의원 선거에 이어 스리랑카 의회의 UPFA 국가명예의원에 임명되었다.[13] 구나세케라는 UPFA 의장 후보로 내세웠지만, 의회에서 세 차례의 극적인 투표 끝에 야당 후보인 W. J. M. 로쿠반다라에게 패배했다.[14][15][16] 구나세케라는 2004년 5월 헌법개혁부 장관에 임명되었다.[17] 그는 2007년 1월 28일 국민통합의 추가 포트폴리오를 받았다.[18][19]

구나세케라는 2010년 국회의원 선거에 이어 UPFA 국가명단 MP로 재선임되었다.[20][21] 그는 선거 후 재활 및 교도소 개혁 장관으로 임명되었다.[22][23] 2010년 11월 인사수석으로 승진했다.[24][25] 2015년 대선에 이어 내각직을 상실했다.

2015년 국회의원 선거에서는 구나세케라가 UPFA의 국가명단에 올랐다.[26][27] 그러나 선거 후 그는 국가명단에 임명되지 않았다.[28][29]
