챌린지 에밀리아노 살라는 2019년 1월 21일 비행기 추락사고로 사망한 아르헨티나 축구선수 에밀리아노 살라를 기리기 위해 매년 열리는 친선 축구대회다.2021년 초판의 참가 클럽은 모두 살라의 옛 클럽이었던 지롱딘스 드 보르도, 스타드 말허베 카엔, FC 낭테스, 샤모아 니오르타이스였다.[1][2]

역사

챌린지 에밀리아노 살라는 미국 올레앙스의 수비수였던 세드릭 캄본(Cédric Cambon)이 오를레앙스 시의 지원을 받아 설립한 운쥬르 멜류르 협회가 주관한다.[3][4]대회 창설에 영감을 준 것은 올레앙스 마을의 스포츠 조수 토마스 르노와 USO에서 에밀리아노 살라와 함께 뛰었던 전 미국 올레앙스 골키퍼에서 나왔다.[5][6][7]

대회 매치에 팔리는 티켓 한 장당 1유로가 사망 직전 난테스에서 계약한 카디프시티가 시작한 에밀리아노 살라 연대기금에 기부된다.이 펀드는 아르헨티나 프로그레소 시에 살라의 이름이 새겨진 새 경기장을 만들기 위해 225만 유로를 모금한다는 목표를 갖고 있다.[5]각 티켓의 나머지 가격은 운쥬르 미유르 협회에 주어진다.[5][7]대회 3일 동안 후원금 모금을 위해 자선 갈라와 축구 키트 경매도 마련된다.[4][8]

대회 초판은 2021년 7월 16일부터 18일까지 오를레앙의 스타드 드 라 소스(Stade de la Source)에서 열렸다.[9]첫 번째 준결승은 난테스와 카엔이, 두 번째 준결승은 니오르트와 보르도 사이에서 치러졌다.[2]챈은 요안 코트의 골에 힘입어 난테스를 1-0으로 물리쳤고 보르도도 니오르트를 상대로 1-1로 비긴 뒤 페널티킥 아웃(5-3)에서 지미 브리안이 레 지롱딘스, 가이 킬라마가 레 샤무아에게 동점을 만든 뒤 승리했다.[10][11][12]7월 18일, 난테스와 니오르트는 챌린지 에밀리아노 살라 플레이오프 3위에 올랐다.니오르트는 이날 경기에서 마티스 안사르의 골에 힘입어 대회 3위를 확정지었다.[13]따라서 토너먼트 첫 판의 결승전은 보르도가 2대 1로 승리한 경기인 카엔과 보르도 사이에 치러졌다.카엔은 블라디슬라프 몰찬의 골로 득점을 열었지만 레미 오우딘과 세쿠 마라의 골이 FCGB의 승리를 지켜냈다.[14]따라서 보르도는 챌린지 에밀리아노 살라 초판을 수상하였다.[15]
