센티봇은 2003년경에 만들어진 로봇으로, 떼로봇의 초기 예인 단일 목표를 달성하기 위해 대량으로 조정하도록 설계되었다.220만 달러 규모의 이 프로젝트는 DARPA의 후원을 받았으며 SRI 인터내셔널 수석 조사관이 워싱턴 대학교 로보틱스 앤 스테이트 어베스트 랩, 스탠퍼드 대학교, 액티미디어 로보틱스 연구소와 함께 있었다.[1][2][3]SRI의 인공지능 센터는 로봇, 특히 쉐이키 로봇과 관련 연구를 위한 이전 연구로 유명했다.
