Cape York International Spaceport
케이프요크 국제우주포트는 호주 케이프요크 반도에 세계 최초의 상업적 우주포트를 건설하자는 20세기 버려진 제안이었다.[1][2]이 계획은 1986년 당시 퀸즐랜드 주(州)의 조 비엘케-페테르센 총리가 우주공항 건설을 위해 퀸즐랜드 주(州)의 원주민 땅을 몰수해 발표한 것이다.[3]이 장소는 적도에 가까워서 더 쉽고 저렴한 우주 발사를 할 수 있기 때문에 선택되었다.[3]이 사업을 위해 토지를 가져간 지역 원주민 단체들의 법적 도전, 연방 환경 기준 증가, 민간 부문의 재정 지원 부족에 따라, 이 사업은 1992년에 포기되었다.[2][4]
후기 개발
2017년 안나스타키아 팔라스츠주크 총리는 브롬리로 알려진 케이프요크 땅 16만730헥타르를 우타티, 쿠쿠야우, 북가탄주 전통 소유주에게 반환했다.[3][4]
호주우주국(Australian Space Agency) 설립과 우주산업에 대한 호주 각국 정부의 관심이 높아진 데 이어 2018년 퀸즐랜드 정부는 위성 발사시설에 적합한 장소를 검토하기 위한 타당성 조사를 시작했다.[5]평가 기준은 영공, 운영, 환경 및 문화적 문제(현지 원주민 및 토레스 해협 아일랜드인의 견해 포함)의 균형 고려사항이다.[6]
2018년 피터 스콧 쿡샤이어 시장은 항구, 인구 규모, RAAF 기지 셔거와 근접해 있어 인근 도시인 웨이파시에 우주공항 건설을 권고했다.[7]
2020년까지 퀸즐랜드 정부는 대체 궤도 발사 장소로 애봇 포인트가 적합한지를 조사하겠다고 발표했다.[8]야당인 자유국민당이 패배한 [9]2020년 퀸즐랜드 주 선거를 앞두고 보웬의 한 시설에 대한 대안안을 공개했다.
