헤이다르 알리예프[a] 동상은 앞서 멕시코시티 미겔 히달고차풀테펙에 파세오 데 라 레포르마(Paseo de la Reforma)를 따라 설치된 아제르바이잔 제3대 대통령 헤이다르 알리예프청동 조각품이다.

2010년대 초 멕시코 주재 아제르바이잔 대사관은 두 개의 동상을 시에 기증했는데, 첫 번째는 2012년 8월 22일 차풀테펙에 있는 멕시코-아제르바이잔 친선공원에 설치된 알리예프 동상이고, 두 번째는 코잘리 대학살을 애도하는 여성이 도시의 역사적인 중심지인 트락스코아크 광장에 세워졌다.멕시코 주재 아제르바이잔 대사 일가르 무크타로프에 따르면 두 동상 모두 아제르바이잔의 독립을 최초로 인정한 국가 중 하나라는 데 대한 감사를 표시하기 위해 이 나라에 주어졌다고 한다.[1]

배경

헤이다르 알리예프는 아제르바이잔의 정치인이었다.1969년부터 1982년까지 아제르바이잔 공산당 제1서기를 지냈다.1992년, 아불파즈 엘치베이가 대통령으로 선출되어, 그 나라의 첫 번째 비공산주의 지도자가 되었다.그러나 이듬해 쿠데타로 엘치베이는 타도되었다.[2]당시 신아제르바이잔당의 창시자 겸 당수였던 알리예프가 대통령 권한대행에 취임했고, 몇 달 뒤 아제르바이잔의 대통령으로 공식 선출됐다.[3]알리예프는 1998년에 재선되었고 2003년에 사망했다.[2]

1991년 12월 멕시코는 아제르바이잔의 소련으로부터의 독립을 인정했고, 다음 달에는 외교관계가 수립되었다.2009년 아제르바이잔은 멕시코 땅에 외교 공관을 세웠다.[7]2011년 멕시코 상원은 아제르바이잔계 아제르바이잔계 민간인들이 호잘리에서 사실상 독립된 아르메니아군에 의해 살해된 1992년 코잘리 대학살을 인정했다.[8]

설명 및 설치
