보건·원격의료를 위한 사회적 노력(SEHAT)은 라비 샨카 프라사드 통신정보기술부 장관 겸 인도 법무·법무부 장관이 아폴로 병원과 손잡고 2015년 8월 25일 출범한 인도의 원격의료 보건 이니셔티브다.[1][2] 인도에서는 2000년에 최초의 원격의료센터가 출범하여 미국 대통령인 빌 클린턴에 의해 발족되었다.[3]

개요

SEHAT 이니셔티브는 인도 농촌지역에 원격의료센터를 개설해 농촌지역 사람들이 온라인으로 의사를 상담하고 일반의약품도 주문할 수 있도록 하겠다는 취지로 시작됐다.[4] 아폴로와 메단타 병원의 지원을 받는 CSC(Common Service Center) 제도 하에서는 이미 여러 분야에서 원격의료 서비스가 제공되고 있었다. 이제 SEHAT 보건 이니셔티브 Common Service Centers(CSC)의 출범으로 인도 여러 도시에 있는 6만 개 센터로 확대된다.[5]
