사티쉬 찬드라(Satish Chandra, 1922년 11월 20일 ~ 2017년 10월 13일)[1]는 인도의 역사학자로, 전문화의 주 영역이 중세 인도 역사였다.[2]

사생활

사티쉬 찬드라는 우타르프라데시주(당시 연합주) 미루트에서 파키스탄 주재 인도 고등판무관 시타 람 경과 [3]그의 부인 바수데비 사이에서 태어났다.

그는 알라하바드 대학을 다녔고 그곳에서 B.A. (1942년), M.A. (1944년), D.를 받았다.필(1948)은 R.P. 트리파티의 감독하에 있었다.[4][5]그의 박사학위 논문은 18세기 인도의 정당과 정치에 관한 것이었다.[3]

사비트리와 결혼하여 세 아들을 두었다.[6]

경력

알라하바드 대학교, 알리가르 무슬림 대학교, 델리 대학교, 라자스탄 대학교에서 가르쳤으며 1971년 캠브리지에서 스마우츠 방문 교수를 지냈다.그는 뉴델리자와할랄 네루 대학(JNU)의 역사학 교수였다.[7]S.고팔, 비판 찬드라, 로밀라 타파르와 함께 JNU의 사회과학대학에 역사학 센터를 공동 설립하였으며,[8] 몇 년 동안 이 센터의 회장을 역임하였다.그는 인도 역사 회의의 비서 겸 대통령이었다.[9]

그는 로밀라 타파르, R. S. 샤르마, 비판 찬드라, 아르준 데브와 함께 역사학자 모임에 속해 있었는데, 때로는 '좌편향'이라고 일컬어지기도 한다.[12]2004년에 그의 교과서는 6년의 공백 끝에 국가 교과 과정에 다시 도입되었다.[13]
