프로비던스 캐년 주 옥외 휴양지는 미국 조지아 주 남서부의 스튜어트 카운티에 위치한 1,003에이커(405.90ha)의 조지아 주립 공원이다.[2] 이 공원에는 프로비던스 캐년이 들어 있는데, 이것은 때때로 조지아의 "리틀 그랜드 캐년"이라고 불린다. 그것은 조지아의 7대 자연 경이로움 중 하나로 여겨진다. 또한 매우 희귀한 매실잎 진달래가 서식하는 곳이기도 하다.
주립공원의 더 기발한 매력 중 하나는 거의 십여 대의 녹슨 1950년대 시대의 자동차와 트럭을 포함한 버려진 홈스테이드다. 이 차량을 철거하면 발생할 환경 훼손 때문에 공원 관계자들은 이들을 내버려 두기로 했다.
협곡형성
프로비던스 캐년은 사실 순전히 자연적인 특징이 아니다. 가장 깊은 곳인 150피트 이상의 거대한 갈매기들 중 다수는 19세기의 열악한 농업 관행으로 인한 침식의 결과물이다.[3]
협곡의 기원에 대한 이 이야기는 1940년대부터 흔한 것이었지만 협곡의 형성은 적어도 부분적으로 자연스럽다. 비록 1825년 이전에 아마도 몇 명의 일찍 도착했겠지만, 스튜어트 카운티의 첫 번째 대규모 정착민 유입은 인디언 스프링스 조약(1825년) 이후에 이루어졌는데, 이 조약에 의해 크릭 인디언들은 차타후치 강 동쪽의 모든 땅을 양도할 수밖에 없었다. 이때 협곡의 존재에 대한 증거는 제임스 S의 증서에 언급된 것을 포함한다. Lunsford to William Tatam 1836년부터.
지질학
그 공원은 보통 황토나 진흙 같은 해양 퇴적물 위에 있고, 모래의 작은 면적이 있다. 로미 모래톱은 대부분의 비인쇄 구역에서 모래 점토, 모래 점토 또는 점토의 중첩 부토를 덮고 있다. 난킨, 코와르트, 모빌라, 오렌지버그 등이 대표적인 토양 시리즈다. 협곡은 진흙에 많이 노출되어 있고, 그 위로 물이 자주 스며든다. 물이 잘 배출된 이 지역에서는 물이 이동한다.
