피에로 글리제스

피에로 글리제스(Piero Gleijes, 1944년 이탈리아 베네치아 출생)는 존스홉킨스 대학교의 폴 H. 니트제 국제대학원(SAIS)에서 미국 외교정책학 교수다.^[1]그는 피델 카스트로 밑에서 쿠바 외교정책에 대한 학구적인 연구로 가장 잘 알려져 있으며, 2005년 그에게 구겐하임 펠로우십을 주었으며,^[2] 라틴 아메리카에 대한 미국의 개입에 관한 여러 저서를 출간하기도 했다.그는 쿠바의 카스트로 시대의 정부 기록 보관소에 출입이 허용된 유일한 외국인 학자다.^[3]

교육과 일

글리제스는 제네바 국제학 대학원으로부터 국제관계학 박사학위를 취득했으며 아프리칸스어, 프랑스어, 독일어, 이탈리아어, 포르투갈어, 러시아어, 스페인어를 알고 있다.^[1]

그의 2002년 저서 '상충되는 임무: 하바나, 워싱턴과 아프리카, 1959~1976년'은 아프리카 탈식민지화에 쿠바가 개입했다는 철저한 재검토였다.^[4]호르헤 도밍게즈로부터 "냉전 기간 동안 아프리카에서 쿠바 작전 중 이용 가능한 최고의 연구"^[5]라는 찬사를 받으며, 그것은 SHAFR의 로버트 H를 수상했다.2003년 페럴 북상 수상.^[6]자유의 비전(2013년)은 1976년부터 1991년까지 남아프리카 공화국에서 쿠바, 미국, 소련, 남아프리카의 충돌을 보면서 '상충되는 임무'에서 비롯된다.^[7]
