미국 최초의 PCS 네트워크

미국에서는 Sprint PCS가 최초로 PCS 네트워크를 구축하고 운영하며 1995년 11월 볼티모어-워싱턴 대도시 지역에서 Sprint Spectrum 브랜드로 서비스를 시작했습니다.스프린트는 원래 GSM 무선 인터페이스 장비를 사용하여 네트워크를 구축했습니다.스프린트 PCS는 이후 CDMA를 전국망 무선 인터페이스로 선정하고 볼티모어-워싱턴 지역에 병렬 CDMA 네트워크를 구축해 1997년 서비스를 시작했다.스프린트는 지역 고객들의 CDMA 네트워크로의 이행을 완료할 때까지 두 네트워크를 병행 운영했다.고객 이행을 완료한 후, Sprint PCS는 2000년 [6]1월에 GSM 무선 인터페이스 네트워크 장비를 옴니포인트 통신에 판매하였습니다.옴니포인트는 나중에 보이스스트림 와이어리스에 의해 인수되었고, 그 후에 T-Mobile US가 되었다.
