어원

표범이라는 단어는 고전적인 라틴 판트 ē라에서 유래했으며, 그 자체는 고대 그리스 판트 ē r (πάνθηρ)에서 유래했습니다.

특성.

판테라 종에서 두개골의 등쪽 프로파일은 평평하거나 고르게 볼록합니다. 안와전두엽 부위는 눈에 잘 띄지 않고, 안와 뒤쪽 부위는 덜 가파른 경사를 이루고 있습니다. 기본적인 두개골 축은 거의 수평입니다. 불래의 안쪽 방은 크고 바깥쪽은 작습니다. 그들 사이의 칸막이는 외이도와 가깝습니다. 볼록하게 둥근 턱이 경사진 형태입니다.[8] 모든 판테라 종들은 불완전하게 골화된 설골과 섬유탄성패드로 덮인 큰 성대 주름이 있는 특수 적응된 후두를 가지고 있습니다; 이러한 특성들은 그들이 포효할 수 있게 합니다. 눈표범만이 굉음을 낼 수 없는데, 이는 공기 흐름에 대한 저항력을 낮추는 9mm(0.35인치)의 더 짧은 성대 주름을 가지고 있기 때문에 운시아속에 보존될 것으로 제안되었습니다.[9] 판테라 종은 프루스텐(prusten)을 사용할 수 있는데, 이는 짧고 부드럽고 코를 고는 소리입니다; 이것은 친근한 사람들 사이의 접촉에서 사용됩니다. 굉음은 종에 따라 다른 독특한 패턴을 가진 특히 큰 소리입니다.[10]

진화

판테라의 지리적 기원은 중앙아시아 북부일 가능성이 높습니다. 판테라 종으로 알려진 가장 오래된 판테라 종은 눈표범과 두개골 특징이 비슷합니다. 호랑이, 눈표범, 구름표범 유전자 계통은 중신세 때 동남아시아에 흩어져 있었습니다.[11] 유전자 연구에 따르면 표범 고양이는 600만 년에서 1000만 년 전 사이에 펠리네아과에서 갈라졌습니다.[5] 네오펠리스속판테라자매입니다.[5][12][13][14] 구름무늬 표범은 약 866만년 전갈라진 것으로 보입니다. 판테라는 약 1,130만 에 다른 고양이 종에서 갈라졌고, 그 후 약 655만 에 호랑이 종으로, 약 463만 에 눈 표범으로, 약 435만에 표범으로 진화했습니다. 화석의 미토콘드리아 서열 데이터는 아메리카사자(P. atrox)가 약 034만년 전에 갈라진 P. spelaea의 자매 계통임을 시사합니다.[15] 눈표범은 판테라 안에 둥지를 틀고 있으며 호랑이의 자매 종입니다.[16]

2016년 양친성 핵 유전체 분석을 기반으로 한 연구 결과에 따르면 살아있는 판테라 종의 다음과 같은 관계가 있음을 시사합니다.[17]

멸종된 종인 판테라 곰바스조에겐시스는 아마도 현대 재규어와 밀접한 관련이 있었을 것입니다. 최초의 화석 유적은 이탈리아 올리볼라에서 발굴되었으며, 160만년 전의 것으로 추정됩니다.[18] 남아프리카에서 판테라 계통에 속하는 것으로 보이는 화석 유적은 약 200만~380만년 전으로 거슬러 올라갑니다.[19]

분류

19세기와 20세기 동안, 다양한 탐험가들과 자연사 박물관의 직원들은 모든 판테라 종들에 대해 수많은 아종들, 또는 때로는 "인종들"이라고 불리는 종들을 제안했습니다. 분류학자 레지날드 이네스 포콕(Reginald Innes Pocock)은 런던(London) 자연사 박물관(Natural History Museum)의 동물학 컬렉션에서 가죽과 두개골을 검토하고 설명된 아종을 그룹화하여 목록을 상당히 줄였습니다.[20][21][22] 1980년대 중반부터 몇몇 판테라 종은 주로 포획된 개체의 혈액 샘플을 사용하여 유전자 연구의 대상이 되었습니다. 연구 결과에 따르면 사자와 표범 아종의 많은 수는 그들 사이의 유전적 구별이 불충분하기 때문에 의심스러운 것으로 나타났습니다.[23][24] 그 후, 모든 아프리카 표범 개체군을 P. p. pardus로 분류하고 아시아 표범 개체군에 대한 8개의 하위 특정 이름을 유지할 것을 제안했습니다.[25]
