1975년에 설립된 올림픽 훈장은 올림픽 무브먼트에서 가장 높은 상이다.이 상은 특히 올림픽 운동에 기여한 공로, 즉 스포츠를 위해 가치 있는 노력을 인정받은 것에 대해 수여됩니다.전통적으로, IOC는 각 올림픽 게임의 폐막식에서 국가 대표 주최자에게 올림픽 순서를 수여한다.
역사
올림픽 훈장은 1975년 5월 국제올림픽위원회(IOC)에 의해 올림픽 공로장(Diploma of Merit)의 후계자로 제정됐다.올림픽 훈장은 원래 세 개의 등급(금, 은, 동)이 있었다.
1984년 사라예보(유고슬라비아)에서 열린 제87회 IOC 총회에서 앞으로는 은메달과 동메달의 구분이 없어질 것이라는 결정이 내려졌다.금 수장은 국가 원수와 예외적인 상황에서 계속 수여될 것이다.
설계.
올림픽 오더 휘장은 등급에 따라 금, 은 또는 청동으로 된 칼라(또는 체인)의 형태이며, 체인의 앞면은 코티노스 엠블럼(올리브 화환)으로 양옆에 있는 올림픽 무브먼트의 다섯 개의 링을 묘사하고 있다.등급에 따라 금, 은, 동으로 된 미니어처 오륜과 코티노 형태의 라펠 배지를 수령자에게 증정하여 적절히 착용할 수 있도록 한다.

Trivia
Nadia Comăneci became one of the youngest recipients of the Olympic Order in 1984 when she was only 23 years old at the time of her award. She is also one of the two only athletes to be awarded the Olympic Order twice (1984, 2004), the other one being the Brazilian Carlos Arthur Nuzman.
