1882년에 모리스 포터 메모리얼 병원으로 설립된 시카고의 할스테드 거리와 벨든 거리의 모퉁이에 3-13세의 아이들만을 위한 8개의 침대가 있는 오두막집은 13세의 아들이 사망한 후 간호사이자 어머니인 줄리아 포스터 포터에 의해 설립되었습니다.[10][11]
