2015 Giro d'Italia는 2015년 로드 사이클 시즌에 열린 사이클 그랜드 투어 중 첫 번째 대회였다.지로디탈리아 98판이었다.이 경주는 산 로렌초 알 마레에서 5월 9일에 시작되었고 밀라노에서 5월 31일에 끝났다.비록 그것이 주로 이탈리아에서 일어났지만, 그 노선은 또한 기수들을 스위스로 이끌었다.[1]

17명의 UCI 월드팀들은 자동으로 초청되어 경주에 참가할 의무가 있었다.2014년 10월, 5개의 UCI 프로페셔널 컨티넨탈 팀이 지로의 주최자인 RCS Sport로부터 레이스에서 와일드카드 자리를 얻어 22개 팀 펠로톤을 완주했다.[2]각 팀에 9명의 남자가 있었기 때문에, 초기 선발명단은 198명의 기수들로 구성되었다.하지만 로또NL-점보조지 베넷이 코티솔 수치가 낮은 혈액 검사로 경기 시작 전 강제로 철수하면서 1단계를 시작한 선수는 197명에 불과했다.[3][4]이들은 36개국에서 왔는데, 펠로톤(59명)의 4분의 1 이상이 이탈리아인이었으며, 그 외 어느 나라도 15명 이상의 라이더가 경기에 참가하지 않았다.[5]

밀라노에서 마지막 무대는 163명의 선수가 완주했는데 34명이 완주하지 못했다.이 경주는 알베르토 콘타도르(팅코프-삭소팀 선수)가 우승했다.[6]콘타도르는 5단계에서 처음으로 일반 분류 리더의 분홍색 저지를 착용했는데, 이것은 이 경주의 첫 번째 정상회담 마무리였다.[7]그는 6단계에서 추락 사고로 어깨를 다쳤음에도 불구하고 며칠 동안 선두를 유지했다.[8]콘타도르는 또 다른 충돌에 휘말려 13번 스테이지에서 파비오 아루(아스타나)에게 리드를 빼앗겼으나,[9] 다음 날 레이스 유일한 개인 시간 재판에서 경쟁자들을 몇 분 차로 꺾으며 다시 되찾았다.[10]마지막 주 경주에 아루와 의 팀 동료 미켈 란다의 압박을 받았음에도 불구하고 콘타도르는 지로의 종말까지 선두를 지켰다.[11]아루는 콘타도르에 거의 2분 뒤진 2위를 차지했고, 어린 기수 분류에서 우승했다. 란다는 아루에게 1분 이상 뒤진 연단을 완성했다.[6]포인트 분류지아코모 니졸로(트렉 팩토리 레이싱)가, 산악 분류조반니 비스코티(영화팀)가 차지했다.아스타나는 두 팀 분류에서 모두 우승했다.[12]

17개의 UCI 월드팀 모두 자동으로 초청되어 경주에 참가할 의무가 있었다.[13]2014년 이탈리아 팀들의 캅파 이탈리아 랭킹 우승자로서 2014년 네리 소톨리로 출전한 남동 프로 사이클은 2014년 10월 잠정적으로 레이스에 초청됐다.[14]2015년 1월 와일드카드 5개소 발표로 이들의 입국이 공식 확정돼 22개팀 펠로톤을 완성했다.[15]다른 와일드카드 부문은 안드로니 지오카톨리-사이더멕, 바르디아니-CSF, CCC-스프란디-폴코비체, 니포-비니 판티니 선수단이 수상했다.[16]
