1912년 스톡홀름 올림픽 개막식 참가국

1896~2020년 하계 올림픽(2021년 개최)에 참가한 국가별 올림픽 위원회(NOCs)로 대표되는 국가 목록이다.2020년 올림픽을 기준으로 현재 206개의 NOC가 모두 최소 한 판 이상의 올림픽 경기에 참가하였다.호주(오스트랄라시아 팀이 참가하는 두 개의 경기 포함), 프랑스,[K] 영국, 그리스, 스위스[M] 선수들이 29개의 하계 올림픽에 모두 참가하였다.

역사

초년

1908년 런던 올림픽 개막식 참가국

초기 게임은 참가국에 대해 명확하게 문서화되지 않았다.11개국에서 16개국까지의 경쟁자들이 아테네에서 열린 1896년 제1회 올림픽에 참가했다.올림픽 공식 보고서에는 11개국(호주, 오스트리아, 덴마크, 영국, 프랑스, 독일, 그리스, 헝가리, 스웨덴, 스위스, 미국)이 언급돼 있으며,[1] 국제올림픽위원회(IOC)는 14개국이 대표라고 명시돼 있다.[2]불가리아[3] 칠레[4] NOCs는 각각 아테네에서 단일 선수로 대표되었다고 주장한다.다른 정보원들 또한 이집트, 이탈리아, 터키 제국을 열거한다.[5][6]

스포츠 이벤트는 만국 박람회 Universelle에서 열리는 동안 공식 보고서는 실제로 요약 및 source,[7]이 IOC도 24개국 1900년 하계 올림픽에서 Paris,[8]에 추가적으로 소식통, 아이티, 이란, 룩셈부르크로 최대 28국가들 목록 및 페루는 추가 참여했다라고 한다 그렇게 믿을 만한 것으로 간주될 수 없다.s.[9][10]1904년에서 열린 게임 루이스는 유럽 밖에서 열린 첫 올림픽이었고 12개국의 참가를 보았다.[11][12]비록 1906년 중간 올림픽 경기는 IOC에 의해 더 이상 올림픽 정식 종목으로 여겨지지 않지만, 올림픽 운동을 복원하는 데 도움이 되었다.1908년[13] 런던에서는 22개국이 참가했고 1912년 스톡홀름에서는 28개국이 참가하며 이후 올림픽의 참가도 꾸준히 증가했다.[14]이 두 경기(한 경기)에서, 대표단 중 한 명은 호주와 뉴질랜드의 선수들로 구성된 팀이었고, 오스트랄라시아로 지명되었다.베를린으로 계획된 1916년 올림픽제1차 세계 대전으로 인해 취소되었다.

전쟁중년

제1차 세계 대전 후, 올림픽 경기는 1920년 앤트워프에서 재개되었다.29개국이 참가했지만 오스트리아, 불가리아, 독일, 헝가리, 터키 등은 참가하지 않았으며, 이들 중 전쟁에서의 역할 때문에 초청된 국가는 없었다.[15]체코슬로바키아유고슬라비아와 같이 새로 만들어진 몇몇 유럽 국가들이 올림픽에 데뷔했다.

1924년 하계 올림픽을 위해 파리에서 44개국이 참가한 가운데 독일이 다시 올림픽에 초청되지 않았음에도 불구하고 올림픽은 급속도로 성장했다.[16]이러한 상황은 독일이 총 46개 참가국에 참가하기 위해 돌아온 1928년 올림픽의 경우 바뀔 것이다.[17]37개국에서 온 선수들은 1932년 하계 올림픽을 위해 로스앤젤레스로 여행했다.[18]베를린에서 열린 1936년 하계 올림픽에는 49개국(신흥 최고위)이 참가했지만 정치화가 심했다.[19]1939년 제2차 세계대전이 발발하여 1940년 도쿄 올림픽과 1944년 런던 올림픽이 각각 취소되었다.

전후 해와 냉전 시대

1952년 헬싱키 올림픽 개막식 참가국

이전 올림픽이 끝난 지 12년 후인 1948년 런던 하계 올림픽은 올림픽에 데뷔한 14개국을 포함해 59개국의 경쟁자들을 끌어 모았다. 다시 한번 독일은 참가하도록 초청받지 못했고 일본도 마찬가지였다.[20]1952년 헬싱키에서 열린 대회에는 소련이 처음 출전하고 독일과 일본이 복귀하는 등 69개국이 참가하여 다시 최고 기록을 세웠다.[21]멜버른에서 67개국이 참가한 1956년 하계 올림픽처음으로 보이콧으로 얼룩졌다.[22]이집트이라크, 레바논은 수에즈 위기에 대응해 철수했고 네덜란드, 스페인, 스위스는 소련의 헝가리 침공에 대응해 철수했다.호주의 검역 제한 때문에 이번 승마 대회는 5개월 앞서 스톡홀름에서 열렸으며, 멜버른에서 경쟁하지 않은 5개국을 포함해 총 29개국이 참가했다.[23]

1960년대에 아프리카와 중남미 국가들의 참여가 크게 증가했다.84개국이 1960년 하계 올림픽에 참가했고,[24] 로마에서는 1964년 하계 올림픽에 94개국이 참가했으며,[25] 도쿄에서는 1968년 하계 올림픽에 112개국이 멕시코시티에서 참가하였다.[26]1968년 대회도 서독과 동독이 독립팀으로 출전한 첫 대회였다.이전의 3개의 올림피아드(1956–1964)의 경우, 두 개의 NOC는 연합된 독일 팀에 의해 공동 대표되었다.[27]1972년 뮌헨에서 열린 하계 올림픽에는 121개국이 참가했는데, 이는 지금까지 가장 높은 기록이다.[28]

다음 세 개의 게임은 각각 중대한 보이콧으로 망쳐졌다.1976년 하계 올림픽에서는 몬트리올에서 92개 국가만 대표되었다.[29]29개 아프리카 국가(이보리 코스트세네갈만이 유일한 두 예외)는 뉴질랜드의 참가로 인해 올림픽을 보이콧했다. 뉴질랜드는 남아공과 다른 스포츠 관계를 유지했기 때문이다.[30]가장 큰 규모의 올림픽 보이콧은 1980년 모스크바에서 열렸으며, 그 당시 80개국만이 참가했다.[31]미국은 1979년 12월 소련의 아프가니스탄 침공에 항의하여 보이콧을 주도했고, 60여 개국이 동참했다.이에 대해 1984년 로스앤젤레스 하계 올림픽은 소련과 그 동맹국들에 의해 보이콧되었지만, 총 140개국이 참가했다.[32]1988년 서울 올림픽은 160개국이 참가한 가운데 새로운 최고 기록을 세웠다.[33]

최근 게임

1990년대의 몇몇 이벤트는 올림픽 경기의 참가국들의 큰 증가로 이어졌다.소련이 해체된 후 발트해 국가들1992년 바르셀로나 올림픽 때 1936년 이후 처음으로 독립국가로 경쟁했다.[34]소비에트 연방의 나머지 12명의 전 공화국 선수들은 이 경기들을 위한 통합 팀으로 함께 경쟁했다.독일 단일팀은 1990년 독일 통일 이후인 1964년 이후 처음으로 경쟁했고, 유고슬라비아의 분열은 새로운 국가들의 올림픽 데뷔를 가져왔다.

애틀랜타에서 열린 센테니얼 올림픽에는 하계 올림픽에 데뷔한 24개국을 [35]포함해 197개국 선수들이 참가했다.체코슬로바키아는 체코슬로바키아로 갈라져 있었고, 옛 소련 공화국들은 모두 독립국가로 경쟁했다.올림픽은 2000년 하계 올림픽에서는 시드니에서 199개국이,[36] 2004년 하계 올림픽에서는 아테네에서 201개국이 대표되는 등 계속 성장했다.[37]

마셜 제도와 투발루가 올림픽에 데뷔하는 [38]2008년 베이징 하계 올림픽에는 기록적인 수의 국가(204)가 출전했다.2004년 세르비아 몬테네그로와 함께 경쟁한 뒤 세르비아 몬테네그로는 독립팀을 베이징에 파견했다.브루나이만이 어떤 선수도 경기에 등록하지 못한 후, 경기에 참가하지 못했다.[39]2012년 런던 올림픽은 204개의 NOC만 참가했음에도 불구하고 이 기록을 206개국으로 늘렸다.[40]브루나이는 올림픽에 복귀했지만, 2011년 카리브해 국가 해체네덜란드 안틸레스올림픽위원회(IOC)의 IOC 가입이 철회된 이후 옛 네덜란드 안틸레스 출신 선수들이 독립 올림픽 선수로 출전했다.남수단의 한 선수도 독립 운동선수로 출전했는데, 남수단은 2011년 독립 이후 아직 국가 올림픽 위원회를 구성하지 않았기 때문이다.

2016년 하계 올림픽에서는 206개국이 참가하여 추가로 증가하였다.남수단 선수들은 자국 국기 아래 출전할 수 있었고 코소보는 독립된 팀으로 데뷔했다.콩고, 에티오피아, 남수단, 시리아 민주공화국의 선수들로 구성된 난민들로 구성된 팀도 있었는데, 이들은 본국에서 도망쳐 본국 NOC 아래에서 경쟁할 수 없었다.

설명

이 목록은 알파벳 순으로 정렬된 현재 NOC 206개,[41] 사용되지 않는 NOC 21개 및 기타 항목 3개를 모두 포함한다.또한 각 NOC에 대해 세 글자의 국가 코드도 나열되어 있다.1960년대 이후, IOC와 각 경기 조직위원회가 각 경기의 공식 보고서 내에서와 같이 NOC를 식별하기 위해 자주 사용해 왔다.[42]그러나 이 절에서 몇몇 국가는 라오스(라오 인민민주주의공화국), 북한(조선민주주의인민공화국), 몰도바(몰도바 공화국)와 같은 짧은 형태의 공통 명칭을 사용한다.

몇몇 국가들은 올림픽 역사 동안 변했다.지리적 명칭 변경에 따른 명칭 변경은 국가 이름 이후의 각주로 설명하며, 그 밖의 주기는 표 자체 내에서 연계된 각주로 설명한다.

^TPE: The Chinese Taipei was designated Republic of China (ROC) in 1956,[22] 1960,[24] and 1972,[28] and was designated Taiwan in 1964[25] and 1968.[26] In 1979, the IOC started to use Chinese Taipei to refer to this NOC, a compromise that was acceptable for the People's Republic of China to start participating in the Olympic Games.[49][50]

Brunei's participation in the 1988 Games consisted only of a single official, but no competing athletes.[33] Djibouti marched in the Parade of Nations 2004 Games, but neither athlete competed.
