List of largest protected areas보호구역에 관한 세계 데이터베이스(WDPA)는 유엔환경계획(UN Environment Programme)의 집행기관인 세계보전감시센터가 편집, 관리하고 있다.[1] 보호구역의 IUCN과 CBD 정의를 사용하여 WDPA에 사이트를 포함해야 하는지 여부를 결정한다.[2]
가장 큰 보호 구역(면적 250,000 평방 킬로미터 초과)은 총 보호 구역 순서로 아래에 나열되어 있다.[3] 대부분이 육지지만 해양 구성요소가 있는 북동 그린란드 국립공원과 브라질의 3개 지구 생물권 보호지역을 제외한 모든 지역들이 해양 보호구역이다. 다중 동일하거나 겹치는 지정이 있는 보호지역(예: 북동 그린란드 국립공원 및 해당 생물권 보호구역)은 한 번만 나열된다.
현재 마라에 모아나는 총 면적(196만4375km2)이 멕시코보다 큰 세계 최대 보호구역이다.
