List of best-selling albums이것은 세계에서 가장 많이 팔린 음반 목록이다. 리스트에 등장하기 위해서는 이 수치가 믿을 만한 출처에 의해 출판되었고 앨범은 적어도 2천만 장이 팔렸어야 한다. 이 목록은 스튜디오 앨범, 연장된 연극, 최고의 히트곡, 컴필레이션, 다양한 아티스트, 사운드트랙, 리믹스를 포함한 모든 종류의 앨범을 포함할 수 있다. 주어진 수치는 중고 앨범의 재판매를 고려하지 않는다.[a]
이 목록에 포함된 모든 앨범은 인증된 복사본에서 최소한 30%의 지지를 받고 있다. 필요한 인증 판매량은 앨범이 새로워질수록 증가하기 때문에 1975년 이전에 발매된 앨범들은 인증된 복사본에서 최소한 30%의 지지를 받을 것으로 예상된다. 그러나 21, Come Away with Me와 같은 새로운 앨범들은 인증된 복사본에서 최소한 70%의 지지를 받을 것으로 예상된다. 인증된 복사본은 지역 음악 산업 협회의 온라인 데이터베이스에서 소싱된다. 사운드 오브 뮤직, 인-아-가다-다-비다, 평행선, 스피릿 해빙 블라이드, 프라이빗 댄서, 자넷, 믿음, 볼로 타라라, 휴먼 클레이, 세탁 서비스, 백 투 블랙 등 그렇지 않으면 리스트에 오를 앨범이 포함되지 않은 이유다.

그룹화는 서로 다른 판매 벤치마크를 기반으로 하며, 가장 높은 판매량은 최소 4,000만 부, 가장 낮은 판매량은 2,000만-2900만 부를 청구하는 것이다. 앨범은 판매된 앨범의 수순에 따라, 그 이후에 그 가수의 이름으로 나열된다. 시장의 표 내 주문은 각 시장에서 판매되는 콤팩트 디스크의 수를 기준으로 하며, 상단에서 가장 큰 시장이며 하단에서 가장 작은 시장이기도 하다.[8]
