- For the Air Force, lieutenant generals include commanders of large numbered air forces or major commands,[221][222] deputy and assistant chiefs of staff of the Air staff,[223] deputies of four-star major commands, the chief of Air Force Reserve,[224] as well as the specialty positions of the inspector general,[225] surgeon general[226] and judge advocate general.[227]
- Mary A 중장.
By statute, any three-star officer assigned as superintendent of the United States Military Academy,[301] superintendent of the United States Naval Academy,[302] and superintendent of the United States Air Force Academy[303] must retire upon completion of their assignment,[304][302][305] unless a waiver is granted by the secretary of defense.[306][307][308] 국방장관은 또한 하원과 상원 군사위원회에 통보해야 하며 대통령의 서면 통지서를 포함하여 재배치할 장교를 지명해야 합니다.[306][307][308] 면제가 승인되면 퇴직 대신 추가 임무에 아카데미 교육감을 역임한 임원의 후속 지명 및 임명은 상원의 조언과 동의를 받아야 합니다.[306][307][308]
- 로널드 A 제독.
- 크레이그 A 중장.
