List of SEPTA Regional Rail stationsSETA 지역철도는 미국 필라델피아, 펜실베이니아, 그리고 델라웨어 계곡으로 알려진 그 대도시 지역에 운행하는 통근 철도 시스템이다.이 시스템은 미국 남동부 펜실베이니아 교통청(SEPA)이 운영하고 있으며 펜실베이니아 주에서는 벅스, 델라웨어, 몽고메리, 체스터, 필라델피아 등 5개 카운티를 비롯해 뉴저지 주의 머서 카운티, 델라웨어 주의 뉴캐슬 카운티까지 서비스하고 있다.[1]이 시스템은 총 223마일(359km)의 경로 길이를 포함하며, 이 중 98마일(158km)은 SECA가 소유하고 있으며, 나머지는 암트랙, CSX 운송, 필라델피아 시가 소유하고 있다.2019 회계연도에 SETA 지역철도 연간 이용객은 3420만 명, 평일 평균 이용객은 11만8,800명이었다.[2]
지역철도 시스템 내에는 13개 노선이 있으며, 155개의 활성역이 있다.[2]이 시스템의 6개 요금 구역은 이동 거리를 기준으로 티켓 가격을 결정한다.요금 구역은 필라델피아 센터 시티에서 역까지의 거리에 근거하여 1~4 구역으로 지정되며, 센터 시티 구역(CP 구역)의 역과 뉴저지 주(NJ 구역)의 역에 대한 추가 구역이 있다.센터 시티와 가깝지만, 네 개의 공항 터미널 역은 4구역 내에 위치해 있다.[3]
지역 철도 시스템은 20세기[4] 초에 건설되었으며, 원래 펜실베이니아 철도청과 독서 회사가 각각 운영하는 두 개의 분리된 시스템으로 구성되었다.[5]셉타는 1963년에 결성되었고, [6]펜실베이니아 철도는 1968년에 펜실베이니아 중앙 교통 회사에 합병되었다.[7]펜 센트럴과 리딩 컴퍼니는 1976년 콘레일에 인수될 때까지 철도를 운영했는데, 이 시스템은 1982년까지 운영되었다.[5]1983년 1월 1일부터 지역철도사업부가 운영되기 시작했으며, 이에 따라 SECA는 철도에 대한 완전한 운영통제권을 갖게 되었다.[6]
1984년 11월, 구 펜실베이니아와 펜실베이니아 센트럴 네트워크를 연결하는 터널인 센터 시티 통근 연결이 개통되어 철도 서비스가 도시를 통과하여 인접 교외로 계속 이동할 수 있게 되었다.이 터널은 또한 이전의 독서 터미널을 새로운 마켓 이스트 역(현재의 제퍼슨 역)으로 대체했다.12개 레딩과 펜 센트럴 노선은 R1에서 R8까지로 지정된 7개 노선으로 통합되었으며, R4 지정은 비록 사용되지 않았지만 향후 사용을 위해 유보되었다.[8][9]이 시스템의 최신 노선인 공항선은 1985년에 개통되어 웨스트 트렌턴 선으로부터 R1 지정을 넘겨받아 웨스트 트렌턴 서비스를 R3 미디어/엘윈 선과 페어링했다.[8][10]2010년 7월, 각 회선의 "R" 지정이 삭제되었고, 행선지의 이름을 따서 회선 명칭이 변경되었다.[11]
