몬트리올 대주교는 로마 가톨릭의 몬트리올 대교구장으로, 그 영적, 행정적 필요를 돌보는 일을 담당한다.이 대교구는 퀘벡 주의 중남부를 아우르는 교회주의 지방의 메트로폴리탄 광경이며,[1] 따라서 몬트리올 대주교는 졸리에테, 생장롱구일, 생제르메, 밸리필드의 서프라간 교구를 관장하는 주교들을 관리하기도 한다.[2]현재 대주교는 크리스티안 레핀이다.
대교구는 1836년 5월 13일에 만들어진 몬트리올 교구로 시작되었다.장 자크 라티기는 영국 정부의 사전 승인 없이 초대 주교로 임명되었다.결과적으로 이것은 캐나다의 식민지 당국이 주교 임명과 새로운 교구 신설과 같은 교회의 내부 문제에 대한 간섭을 줄이기 시작한 선례를 만들었다.[3]1886년 6월 8일, 교구는 교황 비오 9세에 의해 대교구의 지위로 격상되었다.에두아르 샤를 파브르는 새로 형성된 메트로폴리탄의 첫 대주교가 되었다.[4]
8명의 남자가 몬트리올의 대주교였고, 다른 2명은 전임 교구의 주교였다.이 중 2명은 성 설피체 사제협회(PSS) 회원이었다.[5]폴-에밀 레거, 폴 그레고어, 장-클로드 투르코트 등 3명의 대주교가 추기경대학으로 승격되었다.[6]대교구의 첫 번째 평범한 라르티그 역시 몬트리올에서 태어난 7명의 주교와 대주교 중 첫 번째였다.[3][A]폴 브루체시는 42년(1897–1939년) 동안 몬트리올 대주교직을 가장 오래 역임했으며,[7] 그의 직속상관 조지 게시에가 11개월(1939–1940년) 동안 재임하면서 가장 짧은 성공회였다.[12]
