로렌스 우드 "칩" 로버트 주니어(1889–1976)는 1908년 조지아 공과대학을 졸업했으며 유명한 애틀랜타 엔지니어링 및 건축 회사인 로버트 앤 컴퍼니의 설립자였다.

조기생활과 교육

로버트는 조지아 공대에 있는 동안 1906년 크로스컨트리 팀, 1908년 조지아 공대 미식축구 야구팀 주장을 맡아 최대 12개의 바시티 문자를 받았다.로버트는 1903년 가을부터 1909년 여름까지 조지아 공대에 다녔으며, 1908년 토목 공학 학위와 1909년 실험 공학 학위로 졸업했다.[1][2]

경력

그는 1917년에 건축 회사인 Robert and Company를 설립했다.[3]로버트는 애틀랜타의 마이너리그 야구팀인 애틀랜타 크래커스의 회장이었다.[4]

로버트는 1933년부터 1936년까지 재무부 차관보로 임명되었고,[5][6] 업무진행국(Works Progress Administration)을 담당했으며, 그 후 1936년 민주국가위원회 비서로 임명되었고, 1937년 11월 남동부지사총회의 집행위원을 지냈다.[7][8][9]

로버트는 1937년 조지아 섭정위원회에 임명되었다.[10]그는 코킹 사건 때 일원이었고 주지사와 함께 월터 코킹을 제거하기 위해 투표를 했다.[11][12]

로버트는 1934년 조지아 공대 동문 공로상을 받은 최초의 수상자였다.1979년부터 조지아공대 동문회가 입주해 있는 건물인 '올랭니 하우스'의 이름이다.[7][13]1971년 그를 기리기 위해 장학기금이 지명되었고 1979년 국가유공자 장학사업에 지정되었다.[14]그는 1989년에 조지아 스포츠 명예의 전당에 헌액되었다.[15]

그의 딸 루이자 로버트는 1932년 미국 올림픽 팀의 일원이었다.[4][16]
