그리스 경제의 기적은 1950년부터 1973년까지 그리스에서 급속하고 지속적인 경제 성장의 시기를 묘사하고 있다.[1] 전성기에 그리스 경제는 평균 7.7% 성장해 세계 2위인 일본에 버금갔다.[2][3][4][5][6][7]

배경

1941년부터 1944년까지 그리스는 군사침공, 점령, 그리스 레지스탕스 단체와의 치열한 전투 등 제2차 세계대전의 파괴적인 영향을 종식시켰는데, 이 모든 것이 이미 개발이 덜 된 자국의 기반시설과 경제에 전례 없는 피해를 입혔다. 점령정권이 요구한 강제 대출은 그리스 드라크마를 심하게 평가절하했고, 전쟁 종식은 1949년까지 지속된 쓰라린 내전에 자리를 내주었다. 1950년까지 그리스 경제의 상대적 지위는 급격히 악화되었다. 구매력 조건의 1인당 국민소득1938년 프랑스의 62%에서 10년도 채 되지 않은 1949년 약 40%로 떨어졌다.[2]

경제 성장

그리스의 성장률은 1950년대에 가장 높았고, 종종 현대 호랑이 경제의 성장률에 근접한 10%를 초과했다.[17][18] 산업 생산도 몇 년 동안 매년 10%씩 성장했는데, 대부분 1960년대에 성장했다.

성장은 처음에는 빈부격차를 확대하여 정치적 분열을 심화시켰다.[14][failed verification]

그리스 GDP는 모두 2차 세계대전과 그리스 내전 이후 60년 중 54년 동안 성장했다.[19] 1950년부터 2008년 경제위기까지 1980년대의 상대적 경제침체를 제외하면 그리스는 연간 경제성장률 면에서 꾸준히 대부분의 유럽 국가들을 앞질렀다.[citation needed]

여파

1980년대에 한계 GDP의 위축이 기록되었지만, 그 기간 동안 그리스 경제의 진화에 의해 부분적으로 균형을 이루었다. 1970년대 초반과 1990년대 사이에는 유로존 가입 기준을 준수하도록 통화정책이 변경되기 전까지는 종종 10%보다 20%에 가까운 두 자릿수 인플레이션이 정상이었다.[20]
