고에어로 설립된 고 퍼스트([4]Go First)는 마하라슈트라주 뭄바이에 본사를 둔 인도 초저가 항공사다. 인도의 재계 거물인 와디아 그룹이 소유하고 있다. 2017년 10월 인도에서 5번째로 큰 항공사로 여객 시장 점유율이 8.4%에 달했다.[5] 2005년 11월에 운항을 시작했으며 모든 경제 구성에서 Airbus A320 항공기를 운항하고 있다.

2020년 3월 뭄바이, 델리, 방갈로르, 콜카타, 찬디가르,[6] 칸누르 등의 허브에서 국내선 27편, 국제선 9편 등 36개 목적지까지 매일 330편이 넘는 항공편을 운항했다.[7][8] 항공사는 Rs 360억을 1차 시장에서 조달하기 위해 IPO를[9] 시작할 계획이며, 인도 증시 규제 기관인 SEBI에 동일한 목적으로 DRHP를[10] 신청했다.

역사

Go First는 2005년 11월 인도의 산업가 누슬리 와디아의 아들인 예와디아에 의해 고에어로 설립되었다. 그 항공사는 와디아 그룹의 전액 소유의 자회사다.[11] 고에어는 에어버스 A320 항공기를 이용해 운항을 시작했으며 2005년 11월 4일 뭄바이에서 아메다바드까지 취항했다.[11] 이 항공사는 당초 2008년까지 36대의 항공기를 도입할 계획으로 고아코임바토레 등 4개 목적지에 단일 항공기로 운항했다.[12] 2008년 3월 항공사는 연말까지 11대의 항공기를 운항하고 인도와 인도 남부에 새로운 목적지를 운항하는 수정 계획을 발표했다.[13] 유가 상승으로 고퍼스트는 2008년 6월 기존 운항 횟수를 줄여야 했다.[14]

고에어가 2018년 10월 11일 뉴델리에서 푸켓으로 가는 첫 비행기에 취항하면서 인도 국내 항공사로는 여섯 번째 국제선 항공사가 되었다.[25]

2020년 3월 17일, COVID-19 대유행의 영향으로 고에어는 국제선 운항을 중단했다.[26] 2021년 5월 고에어가 고 퍼스트라는 브랜드로 리브랜딩되었다.[27]

바둑퍼스트는 2020년 3월 태국(방콕푸켓), 무스카트, 아부다비두바이, 쿠웨이트시티, 싱가포르, 말레 등 국내 27개, 국제 11개 등 38개 행선지로 구성된 네트워크로 운영됐다. 현재 고퍼스트는 뭄바이, 델리, 벵갈루루, 칸누르, 콜카타 등지에서 국제선을 운항하고 있다. 이 항공사는 하루 총 325편의 항공편과 매주 2200편 이상의 항공편을 운항하고 있다.[7][30] 이 항공사는 델리, 콜카타, 벵갈루루, 칸누르, 뭄바이 공항에 거점을 두고 있다.[31]

이 항공사는 2018년 10월 11일 델리에서 푸켓까지, 10월 12일 뭄바이에서 푸켓까지, 10월 14일과 17일 각각 뭄바이와 델리에서 말레까지 첫 국제 운항을 시작했다.[32]

2011년 6월 고퍼스트는 32,400 크로어(미화 43억 달러) 상당의 에어버스 A320neo 항공기 72대를 발주했다. 배송은 2016년부터 시작되었으며, 연간 12–15대의 항공기 유도로 시작되었다.[34] 2015년 12월 에어버스는 기술적 문제로 납기가 3개월 지연되고 2015~16년 2분기까지 항공기가 인도될 것이라고 예고했다.[35] 고 퍼스트사는 2016년 6월 1일 첫 A320neo 항공기를 받았다.[24]

서비스

비판

Go First (Go Air)는 기후 변화에 관한 2009년 다큐멘터리 '바보 같은 시대'에 출연했다. 이 다큐멘터리에는 CEO인 제 와디아가 출연한다. 고 퍼스트 항공사는 현재 기차를 타고 있는 많은 인도 사람들을 설득하여 국내선 비행(탄소 집약적인 여행 방식)을 하도록 함으로써 기후 변화를 가속화시켰다는 비판을 받았다. 초저비용항공사 중 하나로 손꼽히기 때문이다.
