북동쪽에서는 브라질리아노판아프리카의 조산기가 역형 변성기로 이어져 현재 히말라야 산맥에서 발견되는 것과 유사하고 서쪽으로 150km 떨어진 추력 나페 형성을 이루었다.[7]

남동쪽에는 두 개의 산악벨트의 잔해가 브라질리아, 상파울루, 비토리아 판 등 대륙 지각의 세 부분 사이의 충돌을 기록하고 있다.[8]

고생대 (5억4100만 년 전 ~ 2억5100만 년 전)

곤드와나 대륙 내의 수렴판 구조학은 고생대에 큰 영향을 미쳤다.[9]피아우와 마란하오에 있는 마란하오(Maranhao)는 아마존 하구에 60만 평방킬로미터에 걸쳐 있으며, 캄브리아에서 데보니아 강을 거쳐 2.5킬로미터의 사암셰일로 채워져 있다.그 순서는 미시시피안, 대륙, 해양, 충적암으로 덮여 있다.[10]

남아메리카와 아프리카가 여전히 결합되면서, 빙하는 고생대 후반에 이 지역을 가로질러 전진했다.빙하 홈과 침식 자국이 파라나 분지의 화성, 변성, 퇴적암을 기록했다.이 시기의 직경과 사암은 남동쪽에서 흔히 볼 수 있다.[11]파라나 분지에 있는 얼리 퍼미언 리오 보니토 형성에는 산불이 남긴 화석 숯이 담겨 있다.[12]

중생대(2억5100만~6600만년 전)

파라나 분지에서의 시추와 상파울루 주변의 둑을 시추한 결과, 나미비아의 세라 게랄 바살트와 카오코 바살트는 모두 1억 2천 1백만 년 전에 동시에 형성되었으며, 이는 남대서양에서의 물떼기 개방을 시작했음을 보여준다.[13]다른 곳에서는 중생대의 홍수 현무암과 하이파비살 바위가 북쪽의 마라냐에 대양의 개방을 나타낸다.[14]북동부의 페르남부코 전단 지역은 백악기의 초대륙 판게아가 해체되는 동안 다시 활성화되었다.백악기 후기에는 킴벌라이트, 카르보나타이트, 올리빈 멜리라이트, 티푸스 디아트림이 상 프란시스코 크라톤을 침범했다.[15]쥐라기, 백악기를 거쳐 북동쪽에 있는 보르보레마 주에서도 마그매틱 활동이 일어났다.[16]그 지역이 아프리카로부터 분리되고 난 후 거의 5천만 년 동안, 상대적으로 적은 양의 물질들이 침식되었다.그러나 연안 퇴적물의 분석은 구석기 시대와의 경계에서 급속한 증가를 나타낸다.[17]

신생대(6600만년 전-현재)

대서양의 개방에 묶인 지속적인 지각 증가는 신생대까지 이어졌다.상파울루에서 전단 및 증축 관련 골절은 수질을 잘 조절한다.[18]리우데자네이루 해안선을 따라 알칼리성 화성 복합체가 네펠라인 시네이트, 가브브로, 션킨틴트, 크리노피록세나이트로 오래된 프리캄브리아 암석을 침입했다.[19]알칼리 현무암은 파라이바와 리오 그란데 도 노르테에서 폭발했다.[20]부서지기 쉬운 변형과 둑 떼는 파라나 분지에 있는 폰타 그로사 아치, 피람보아 및 보투카투 형성의 사암과 실트스톤, 그리고 세라 게랄 형성 현무암에 수반되었다.[21]북동쪽에서는 130km 길이의 페레이로 마시프가 상승하였다.[22]

구석기 시대, 그리고 미오세네 초후기에는 해수면이 낮아져 북동쪽의 파라에 있는 퇴적암에 기록되었다.[23]동시에 탁한 자국이 앞바다의 사오토메 심해분지로 밀려들었다.[24]

홀로세 내에는 브라질의 석순에 빙하호 배출과 관련된 단기 기후 변화가 기록되어 있어, 강렬한 남미 여름 장마를 알 수 있다.[25]

천연자원지질학

중생대와 신생대 사이에 형성된 브라질에는 대서양 강탈과 관련된 석유가 함유된 수많은 연안 분지가 있다.세르기페-알라고아스 분지는 압티안 시대 셰일, 대기업, 사암 등이 마지막 도굴 단계에서 퇴적된 사례로, 미랑가, 아라카스, 돔 요오, 아구아그란데 들판은 중원호반 셰일즈를 반영하고 있으며, 그 위에 기름 함량이 높은 쥬라기 사암 등이 있다.[26]
