제4대 뉴욕 내셔널 은행은 뉴욕에 본사를 둔 미국 은행이었다.

역사

뉴욕 제4국립은행은 1864년 1월에 조직되었다.[1][2] 조직 당시에는 재무부 장관 Salmon P를 포함한 많은 사람들이 있었다. 체이스는 "대자본의 은행이 국가은행제도의 효용성을 입증하는 결과를 초래할 만큼 우호적인 후원 아래 조직되어야 하며, 국가시스템에 따라 존재하는 은행들이 국가은행법에 따라 헌장을 꺼내도록 유도해야 한다"고 생각했다. 제4 내셔널 은행은 제이 쿡을 포함한 뉴욕의 가장 유명한 시민들에 의해 설립되었다.[3]

이 은행은 파인 가 29번지에 있는 "구 정부청사"에 처음으로 문을 열었다. 그러나 1866년 나사와 파인 가의 북동쪽 모퉁이에 위치한 6층짜리 흰색 마블 건물로 이사했다.[4]

1893년 이 은행의 자본 주식은 320만 달러, 흑자 135만 달러, 순이익 378,030 달러, 평균 순예금 2000만 달러였다.[4]

1911년 8월, 제4국민은행과 동일시된 이자가 제14번가 은행을 인수하였고, 그 후 보안은행으로 명칭을 변경하였다. 몇 주 후, 새로운 보안 은행은 19번째와 12번째 워드 뱅크와 합병했다.[5] 이번 인수에 대해 캐넌은 1911년 푸조위원회 금품신탁 청문회 때 사무엘 운터마이어 앞에서 증언했다.[6]

1914년 합병

1914년 5월, 제4차 전국은행과 기계금속 국민은행의 이사들이 단결하기로 합의했다. 기계금속국민은행은 1910년 기계공업국민은행(Mechanics National Bank, 1810년 설립)과 국립 구리은행(National Copper Bank, 1907년 설립)이 합병한 결과였다. 기계금속은행은 주당 200달러를 주식으로 제공했고 그 결과로 생긴 은행은 약 9000만달러의 순예금을 가지고 있었다. 합병 직전인 1914년 3월 기계금속은 5843만3000달러, 제4국민은 3340만8000달러의 순예금을 갖고 있었다.[7]

(1920년 생산물거래소연합과 함께 포함) 다수의 인수합병 후, 1926년 기계금속국민은행은 체이스국민은행과 통합하였다.[8][9][10]

리더십

이 은행의 초대 회장은 조지 오디케로 1862년부터 1863년까지 뉴욕 시장을 역임했으며, 임기를 막 만료한 뒤 대통령직을 맡았다. 저명한 금융가 모리스 케첨은 오프디케의 후계자였다.[11] 세 번째 대통령은 필로 C였다. 칼훈 전 브릿지포트 시장은 약 15년간 재임했다. 1882년 칼훈이 사망한 후, O. D. 볼드윈은 대통령직을 대신할 사람으로 선출되었다. 1888년 1월 사임하였고, 뉴욕증권거래소 사장 출신인 J. 에드워드 시몬스가 뒤를 이었다.[4][12] 1910년 시몬스가 사망한 후, 은행의 부사장인 제임스 그레이엄 캐넌(헨리 W. 캐넌의 동생)의 뒤를 이었다.[13]
