Erwin Gabathuler

에르윈 가바툴러 OBE FRS(Erwin Gabathuler OBE FRS, 1933년 11월 16일 ~ 2016년 8월 29일)는 북아일랜드 출신의 입자 물리학자였다.[citation needed]null

초년기

에르윈 가바툴러는 1933년 11월 16일 북아일랜드 런던데리 카운티 마헤라에서 스위스 자수 공장장의 아들로 태어났다.그는 레이니 엔데라펠트, 마헤라펠트, 그리고 퀸즈 대학교 벨파스트를 다녔다.그곳에서 그는 물리학을 공부했고, 1956년에 BSC를, 1957년에 "대기 가스의 전자 충돌 교차점"[1]에 관한 논문으로 MSc를 받았다.그 후 글래스고 대학교로 옮겨 그곳에서 300 MeV 싱크로트론에서 일했으며, 1961년에 박사학위를 받았다.[2]null

경력

그는 1961-1964년 미국 코넬 대학교에서 연구했고, 1965-1974년 체셔의 드레스베리 연구소에서 연구했다.1974년 CERN에서 일하기 시작했으며, 러더포드 연구소 디스코트의 과학 부관으로서, 결국 1978년 CERN의 직원으로 입사하여 4년 동안 실험물리과장으로 임명되어 에밀리오 피카소로부터 인수되었다.1983~2002년 리버풀 대학에서 물리학 교수 겸 입자물리학그룹장으로 재직하면서 CERN과의 연계를 유지했다.[3]그가 은퇴했을 때, 리버풀 대학은 그의 경력을 축하하기 위해 "ErwinFest"[4]를 조직했다.null
