사생활

스피트는 두 번 결혼했다. 1899년 7월 11일, 그는 어린 아들 아더와 함께 노르웨이에서 러시아를 거쳐 육로로 두 번 육로를 통해 일본으로 건너간 노르웨이의 라그나 그룬(1876년 7월 11일~1953년 5월 3일)과 결혼하였고, 이후 인도에서 도리스 앨릭스(1901년 7월 10일~1991년 5월 22일)와 결혼하여 두 아들을 낳았다.

명예

스핏은 일본 천황으로부터 교직에 대한 공로로 욱일승천장 제5등급을 수여받았으며, 국왕으로부터[4] 이 훈장을 수여받았다.
