데사카타(Desakota)는 대도시의 확장된 주변지역의 지역을 묘사할 때 사용하는 용어로 도시와 농업의 토지이용과 정주 형태가 공존하고 집중적으로 혼합되어 있다.

어원

이 용어는 1990년경 브리티시 컬럼비아 대학의 도시 연구원 테리 맥기에 의해 만들어졌다. 인도네시아 데사 "마을"과 코타 "도시"[1]에서 왔다.

데사코타 지역은 일반적으로 아시아, 특히 동남아시아에서 발생한다. 를 들어, 자카르타의 농경지("자보데타벡")의 농경지에 있는 인구 밀도가 높은 델타 모양의 도시화된 지역인 [2]자바도시화된 지역뿐만 아니라 방콕이나 마닐라의 확장된 대도시 지역에서도 찾아볼 수 있다.[3] 동남 아시아를 벗어나면 중국 본토,[4][5][6] 인도, 일본, 대만,[7] 한국에서도 비슷한 특징을 가진 지역이 설명되어 왔다.[8]

특성.

데사코타 지역은 도시 중심에서 30~50km 이상 떨어진 곳에서 매일 통근하기 쉬운 연안 지역 외부에 위치해 있다. 그들은 종종 동맥과 통신로를 따라 뻗어있으며, 때로는 한 덩어리에서 다음 덩어리로 뻗어있다. 높은 인구밀도와 집약적인 농업 이용(특히 습식재배)에 의해 특징지어지지만, 보다 도시적인 특성에 의해 인구밀도가 높은 농촌 지역과 다르다.[9] 이러한 기준은 발달된 교통망, 높은 인구 이동성, 농업 분야 외부 활동 증가, 많은 다양한 형태의 토지 이용의 공존, 유급 노동에 더 많은 여성 참여, 그리고 규제되지 않은 토지 이용이다.[10]

이들의 횡포한 범위와 모호한 경계로 볼 때 데사카타 지역의 등장은 획일적인 계획이나 규제나 설계가 실현되기 어렵기 때문에 행정부에 어려움을 가져다 준다. 데사코타 지역은 상품과 서비스의 이동성이 높고, 결제 패턴의 급격한 변화가 특징이다. 그들은 보통 도시 지형에 일반적으로 적용되는 기능적으로 특화된 구역에서 분열을 회피한다. 전통 농업, 대규모 및 가내 공업, 놀이공원 및 골프장, 쇼핑 센터 및 소매단지, 판자촌에서 게이티드 커뮤니티에 이르는 정착 형태 등 완전히 다른 형태의 이용이 그 안에서 서로 가깝게 공존한다.[11]
