Defense Australia는 호주와 호주의 [4]국익을 수호할 책임을 지고 있는 호주 정부의 부처이다.호주방위군(ADF)과 함께 호주국방기구(ADO)의 일부를 구성하고 있으며, 호주 국민을 대표하여 영연방 의회에 정부 국방정책의 효율과 효과를 책임지고 있다.

역사
호주는 1901년 연방 이후 적어도 한 개의 국방 관련 정부 부서가 있었다.최초의 국방부는 1901년부터 1921년까지 존재했다.1915년, 제1차 세계 대전 동안, 별도의 해군부가 창설되었다.두 부서는 1921년에 합병하여 제2의 국방부를 구성하였고,[5] 독립된 조직으로 간주되었다.
